something special today
When I came up to my door this afternoon, something flew between me and the door. I was startled but looked at the ledge to my left and there was a little owl. Yes a little owl. I think it is a burrowing owl. I took a couple of pictures and it posed very nicely for me. It stayed for a long time.

Don't think I have ever seen an owl in the day time. One landed in front of our car one night right smack dab in the middle of the road. It hit our car right in the center of the license plate. Poor thing. When we lived on Grampa's farm, I heard a noise on the porch roof right outside my bedroom window and an owl was sitting on the roof. These are my close encounters with owls.

We have a screech owl and a hoot owl living in the woods around our house. I hear them both every morning around 4. The screech owl kind of gives me the creeps when it's a moonless night, but the hoot owl sounds almost comforting. Haven't figured out why yet.
I want to see the photo! I love owls. They are so elegant and poised.
